1. About these terms
Ekora is an online home for churches and their people. Some features described here (such as messages, groups, photo galleries and giving) may not be available yet; these terms apply to each one when you use it. Ekora is provided by Ecclerium Limited (RC 1771066), a private company limited by shares incorporated in Nigeria ("Ecclerium", "we", "us"). These terms apply when you use Ekora on the web or in the app. By creating an account or using Ekora, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Ekora.
2. Who can use Ekora
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms for you.
- You must not use Ekora if we have previously removed you from it, or if the law forbids you from using it.
3. Your account
- Use your real name and keep your details accurate.
- Keep your password safe and do not share your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person, one account. Do not create accounts for other people without their permission.
- Tell us straight away at admin@ecclerium.com if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Churches and their leaders
Any signed-in person can register a church on Ekora and becomes its first leader. If you register or lead a church, you also agree that:
- you are authorised by that church to set it up and act for it, and you will not register a church you do not represent or pretend to be another church;
- the church's details (name, address, contacts, map position) are true and kept up to date;
- the church is responsible for what it and its leaders publish, and for the leaders it appoints and the permissions it gives them;
- you will use members' and visitors' information (such as names, email addresses, phone numbers and event registrations) only for the church's legitimate purposes, keep it confidential, and follow data protection law, including Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023;
- you will moderate your church's space fairly, and answer members' questions and requests about their information.
Ekora keeps a record of actions taken for each church, which the church's leaders can see. We may remove or suspend a church page that breaks these terms or that misleads people about who runs it.
5. Acceptable use
Ekora is a faith community. Be respectful, even when you disagree. You must not use Ekora to:
- post hate speech, or attack people for their race, ethnicity, tribe, nationality, religion or denomination, sex, disability or any similar characteristic;
- harass, bully, threaten or intimidate anyone, or share someone's private information without their permission;
- impersonate a church, a church leader or anyone else, or falsely claim to speak for a church;
- run scams or fraud, including fake appeals for money, false prophecies or miracles offered for payment, or requests for people's passwords or bank details;
- post sexual content, content that exploits or endangers children, or content that promotes violence or self-harm;
- post spam, chain messages or unwanted advertising;
- post content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights, or that is unlawful;
- spread information you know to be false or misleading in a way that could cause harm;
- break, overload or interfere with Ekora, get around its security or limits, or collect other people's information from it by automated means.
6. Moderation and reporting
- You can report a question or an answer from its menu, and choose a reason. For anything else that breaks these terms, email admin@ecclerium.com.
- A church's leaders can hide comments, questions, answers and testimonies in the church's space, and decide which testimonies are shared.
- If you use a church's groups or forums, the church decides who can join (anyone, by invitation, or with an access code), and its leaders moderate what is posted.
- If you message a church, its staff read and reply as the church. Ekora records which staff member sent each reply. These terms apply to messages too.
- We may also review reports, and hide or remove content, or limit an account, when we believe it breaks these terms or the law. We do not review everything posted on Ekora before it appears, and we are not obliged to.
- If you think we made a mistake, write to us and we will look again.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post on Ekora: your comments, questions, answers, testimonies, messages and group posts, and, for churches, posts, devotionals, events, photo galleries and pictures.
So that we can run Ekora, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display, adapt (for example, resize a picture) and distribute your content within Ekora, to the people you have chosen to share it with. The licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies kept for a short time in backups, content others have already shared, or where the law requires us to keep it.
You confirm that you have the right to post your content, and that it does not break these terms. If you ask a question anonymously, your name is hidden from others, but you are still responsible for it.
8. Giving
If you give to a church through Ekora (in Naira, when available):
- Ekora is not the recipient of your gift and does not hold the money. Gifts go directly to the church's own bank account, and the church is responsible for how it uses them.
- You can pay by card or transfer, processed by Monnify, a licensed payment service provider whose own terms also apply; or by bank transfer, uploading your receipt so the church can confirm it.
- Each church confirms gifts under its own approval rules. If you give anonymously, the church's leaders do not see your name.
- Refunds are between you and the church. If a payment goes wrong because of an error on Ekora (for example, you are charged twice), contact us and we will help put it right.
- Churches must give accurate bank details and use gifts and givers' information lawfully.
9. Events
Churches organise their own events, and are responsible for them, including their details, safety, capacity and any changes or cancellations. When you register for an event, the church can see that you registered. Registering does not by itself guarantee a place.
10. Links, videos and other services
Ekora may show links to other websites, and videos from YouTube, Vimeo or Facebook that churches share. Those services are run by others under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content or how they work. Continue with Google is provided by Google under its terms.
11. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Ekora running well, but we provide it "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will always be available, free of errors or suitable for every purpose. Teaching, devotionals, answers and other content on Ekora come from churches and their people, not from us; we do not endorse them, and they are not professional (for example, medical, legal or financial) advice. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.
12. Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for:
- indirect or consequential losses, or loss of data, profit or reputation;
- what churches, their leaders or other users say or do, on or off Ekora;
- events you attend, and gifts you make to churches;
- problems caused by things outside our reasonable control.
Ekora is free for members. Our total liability to you for any claim about Ekora is limited to fifty thousand Naira (₦50,000). We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
13. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Ekora at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
- We may suspend or close an account or a church page that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or where the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
- We may change or stop parts of Ekora. If we stop Ekora altogether, we will give reasonable notice.
- Sections 7 (for content already shared), 11, 12 and 14 continue after your account ends.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to solve it. If we cannot, the courts of Nigeria will have jurisdiction, unless the law gives you the right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
15. Changes to these terms
We update this page when Ekora changes; the date above shows the latest version. If a change matters, we will tell you in Ekora or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Ekora after that, you accept the new terms.
